Blue Ridge Hotels’ pursuit of materials that offer sustainability and eco-friendly benefits without exorbitant cost adders has resulted in a new partnership with CiCLO Textiles. The nature-based CiCLO technology is blended with recycled or conventional polyester to create pathways that enable naturally occurring microorganisms to completely mineralize. This results in fibers that biodegrade at rates similar to natural fibers like wool, or in timeline terms, takes a polyester fiber that normally biodegrades in 200-500 years, to that similar to wool, a fiber that biodegrades in 2-5 years! An additional benefit is that CiCLO has been tested for efficacy and will not biodegrade or prematurely deteriorate while in use. This breakthrough technology combined with Blue Ridge Hotel’s vertically integrated manufacturing processes is producing hotel grade products that offer a true sustainable alternative to traditional synthetic and nylon fibers.
